Many things have changed over the last 12 months, yet many of the fundamentals of business are still in place.
Social distancing with Covid19 has all but destroyed face to face meetings. It has also left a lot of people feeling isolated, alone and open to engagement more than ever before.
This is where texting can be an incredibly powerful tool.
But what works for texting? Here are some tips to help get the most out of your efforts.
You don’t always have to “sell.” Relationships are still the most important part of the sales process. The relationship can be the focus and the sale will come when it’s time.
Video converts 40-80% higher than images. Create some content using a video app and share that content.
Use humor: If you can send something that is funny, engaging or uplifting, your message will be well received and you will see better results. We have some clients send goofy videos almost exclusively, and they are one of the best sales teams in the country.
Develop bonds: In this unique period of time where humans are not interacting as much as they used to, meaningful interactions are cherished more than usual. Sending a message to check on people and see how they are holding up is a great way to change the dynamic from vendor into a more meaningful connection.
Many people who have self isolated will shock you with their positive responses and this can be a great thing as time evolvesZ
Build in "Birthday text messages” : On their special day when only best friends and family are messaging them to wish them a Happy birthday, you can be right there on that list of “inner circle” people. Business always correlates positively with relationships. Facebook is amazing for birthdays.
When you do ask for business here are some tips:
"Personalize your text messages”. People respond better to more personal messages. Keep it short with a clear call to action. Talk informally like you were talking with an old friend. The more formal your message, the less well it tends to be received. If you use a link, make sure it’s not redirected. If the link is shortened or redirects, carriers will likely block the message.
The bottom line is make sure you follow up consistently. Consistent follow up will always result in more sales!
